It’s mid-summer, and all of us at SPPA hope your season has been busy and successful. We wanted to share our TOP 5 TIPS on how to build long-lasting customer relationships. As you know, this is the heartbeat of a pool business, and truly all that matters. Without a strong relational foundation with your clients, it’s easier for them to take their business elsewhere. Read below for 5 simple ways you can begin to strengthen your business TODAY!

 1. The Little Things Matter

Always remember, it’s the little things that truly make a difference. Get to know your customers personally. For example, learning and noting birthdays can be customer retention gold! Show your appreciation for their business. Consider emailing them on their one-year anniversary as your customer; thank them and offer a special discounted service that month.

2. Exceed Expectations

Go above and beyond by paying close attention to detail. We spoke with a local Pool Pro who tries to schedule visits on customers’ trash days to take their cans to the curb. Furthermore, make those small repairs free of charge. Really go out of your way to please your customer. A job well done will never go unnoticed.

3. Communicate Effectively

Communication is essential for any good relationship, and it’s a key way to build strong customer connections. First, find out your customers’ needs. Then, promptly show them that you have a solution to their problem. Moreover, ensure you and your staff return calls, emails, and text messages promptly. This demonstrates professionalism and urgency to the customer.

4. Market Yourself & Be Social

Engage with your customers and community on social media. Platforms like Facebook and Instagram are great tools to integrate into your daily routine. Share your great work and participate in local forums or discussions with people in your area looking for a pool service. Politely ask your customers to leave a review on Yelp, as this is an excellent way to gain new clients.

5. Be Consistent

Consistency is key to standing out. Always show up on time, and be prompt and thorough on the job. Furthermore, always say hello if your customers are home. Double-check that the gate closes all the way, every single time. Nothing is more effective than consistency when it comes to making your company, or your performance, truly shine.
